Yesterday evening Gericó Associates attended IFLR1000’s 27th edition launch party in London. This was an event that culminated their research process in the publication of law firm rankings, individual lawyer recommendations and law firm reviews (IFLR1000 Reviews). At this event, the physical copy of the ‘IFLR1000 Financial and Corporate Rankings of 2017’ was released, ahead of the online release this morning.

iflr1000For this year’s edition the IFLR team ranked 2,200 law firms, rated 8,000 lawyers, and surveyed 40,000 client referees. The financial and corporate research incorporated various practice areas in 122 jurisdictions, including Banking and finance, Capital markets, Corporate and M&A, Restructuring and insolvency and results featured many Spanish law firms among the top rated.

During this event, IFLR mentioned a new endeavor that they will be undertaking in the next few months: a new market research tool that is going to be an online database of financial and corporate, legal and transactional records. This database will allow users to search for a very specific type of counsel, find examples of the work that has been carried out and the people who have worked on it.

The database displays legal deals highlighting all the law firms and lawyers that are involved as well as various other pieces of data such as the countries, the industry sectors, the deal types, the values of each deal with the idea of making better use of the data they have and allow users to gain access to the type of data that they require. The launch will begin in late November in Europe, Middle East and Africa then in the Americas.
