In Gericó Associates we are aware that now, more than ever, the legal sector must return to society part of what it has so generously received. Many law firms organise Corporate Social Responsibility of the Legal Profession events, ranging from fundraising to carrying out pro-bono activities. We want to join in with these CSR initiatives through UNICEF, as we believe that the United Nations organisation focuses on the weakest and most innocent and unfairly treated: the children.
At Gericó Associates we are proud to announce that we are collaborating with UNICEF in getting law firms to know the ‘Multiply for Children’ program, which aims at mobilising resources for the education of children in Africa. The funds raised by this program have two main destinations:
1. Regular resources for UNICEF: it allows investing in those places or programs that need it most. These funds are also used for emergencies when children’s needs are even more critical and donations haven’t arrived yet (in 2012 UNICEF responded to 286 emergencies in 79 countries).
2. “Schools for Africa” is an initiative founded in 2004 with the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the Peter Krämer Foundation to create Child-Friendly Schools. These schools provide a safe and protective environment where children can play and learn. In addition to offering quality education, these schools provide health, water, food and medical facilities, among others.
This initiative by Gericó Associates is the result of two fundamental values of our firm such as solidarity and generosity, which reflect in the partnership agreement for the diffusion of this program that we have signed with UNICEF and that we have already started offering to our customers as a possibility to undertake their CSR activities.
As part of our commitment to give visibility to UNICEF’s Multiply for Children program, we gave UNICEF a free stand in our Legal Marketing and Communications Awards (first of its kind in Spain) and UNICEF Spanish Committee’s work was recognised with the Best CSR Action Award during the Gala that took place in the Santa Coloma Palace of Madrid, in February 2016.
