A few days ago a new edition of Chambers and Partners ‘High Net Worth Legal Guide 2023‘ was published, highlighting the best international private wealth advisers, identifying and ranking law firms, lawyers and a range of other professional advisers worldwide.
The research team of this international directory (well known for its annual worldwide lawyer rankings) analysed the high net worth private wealth market in more than 55 countries. According to the publication, there are 3,809 individual rankings, 1,493 leading organisations and 2,323 departmental rankings, which shows that it is a growing market with major players in the market.
Depending on the jurisdiction and sophistication of each market, these rankings are subdivided into different categories, including a section dedicated to transactions related to private aviation and luxury yachts (including their purchase and sale, leasing and registration, among others).
This guide has the particularity that not only lawyers are ranked, but we can also find private banking advisors and wealth managers in jurisdictions within the European Union, the Middle East and North America.
With regard to the work of the ‘Private Wealth Law‘ area, the aim is to highlight the best firms in charitable planning, wealth transfer, business succession planning, inheritance tax planning, and the creation and administration of trusts, among other related topics.
Within the legal sector in Spain, Baker McKenzie and Cuatrecasas stand out in Band 1, while in the other bands we see firms such as Uría Menéndez, Garrigues, Pérez-Llorca and B Law & Tax, among others. In terms of individuals, Band 1 is made up of Antonio Zurera (Baker McKenzie), Javier Estella Lana (Avantia) and José María Durán (DWF-RCD).
In Latin America there are also investigations in several jurisdictions. In Chile, Fischer y Cía, Fuensalida y Del Valle and Ulloa & Compañía stand out in Band 1, while Colombia has Brigard Urrutia, Posse Herrera Ruiz and Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría in its top band. In Peru, Damma Legal Advisors, DLA Piper and EY, among others, stand out, and in Mexico it is Chevez, Ruiz, Zamarripa y Cia, Sánchez DeVanny Eseverri, and Turanzas, Bravo & Ambrosi who take the top spot.
This is just a sample of the main firms that have stood out in this new edition of the rankings, in a sector in full growth in recent years, and we expect new categories and jurisdictions for the next publications.
Finally, while these results have just been released, the directory never rests: they have announced that 18 August 2023 is the new deadline for nominations for the 2024 edition.
