Legal Today interviews Marc Gericó, founder and managing partner of Gericó Associates, on the occasion of the Legal Marcom Awards. We share the interview:

He is considered one of the most recognized specialists in the field of marketing consulting, strategy, communication and business development in the legal sector, both in Spain and Latin America. He inaugurated in 2016 the Gala Nacional del Derecho – Legal Marcom Awards, the first Spanish-speaking Legal Marketing and Legal Communication awards, which celebrate excellence and innovation in the legal sector in Spain and Latin America. In its fourth edition, which will take place on November 29, 2024, this prestigious event will bring together the most outstanding law firms and legal consultancies, rewarding their dedication, leadership and commitment to quality. We talked to its founder.

What are the main objectives of this edition of the Legal Marcom?

Our main purpose is to recognize and reward excellence and innovation in the legal sector in Spain and Latin America. We seek to highlight how law firms are evolving towards more professional models, becoming true legal services companies through solid strategies of business development, marketing, communication, human capital, technology and innovation.

In addition, we guarantee a transparent and rigorous selection process, backed by a first-class jury. This is composed of 60 general counsel and legal journalists linked to large companies such as Telefónica, Banco Santander, Repsol, Siemens, Microsoft, Ferrovial or Heineken, among many others. This level of commitment and criteria is what positions the Legal Marcoms as the sector’s benchmark.

What can you tell us about the finalists?

Once again, the level of entries was impressive. We are expecting initiatives that not only stand out for their innovation and creativity, but also for their social and strategic impact. Among them we will see projects that promote female leadership, talent development, brand building, solidarity and the advancement of more dynamic business models adapted to new market demands.

The jury, as always, has evaluated with rigorous criteria aspects such as customer loyalty, strategic communication, innovation capacity or commitment to equality. This has led to intense and enriching debates, reflecting the high competitive level of this edition. We sincerely thank all the law firms that have placed their trust in these awards, because each nomination adds value and demonstrates the constant transformation of the legal sector.

What about the round tables?

The round tables will be one of the highlights of the event, with undisputed industry leaders sharing their strategic vision. At the first table, leaders such as Eduardo García (Clifford Chance), José Giménez Cervantes (Linklaters) and Álvaro Iza (Freshfields) will address the challenges and transformations that will mark the future of business law.

On the other hand, in the second panel, Ana Gómez (Amadeus IT Group), Teresa Mínguez (Porsche Ibérica) and Asier Crespo (Microsoft), under the moderation of Camilo Martínez (Martínez Quintero Mendoza González Laguado & De la Rosa), will explore the essential role of the legal department as an engine of business growth. Undoubtedly, these will be enriching spaces for debate that will provide unique and inspiring perspectives for the sector.
