On Wednesday, 11 June, the international directory Chambers and Partners released the second edition of its Chambers NewLaw guide, which in 2025 combined its previous publications on “Alternative Legal Service Providers (ALSPs)” and “LawTech.”

This guide acts as a valuable resource for highlighting the most innovative legal service providers and LegalTech organisations in its rankings. The goal of the publication is to support corporate legal departments and law firms in making informed decisions when selecting external providers.

What’s new in Chambers NewLaw 2025?

A new regional ranking: As previewed last year, Chambers has introduced its first-ever ranking for Latin America, recognising ALSPs operating in the region. Notably, despite the geographic breadth, only one firm was ranked: BLP from Costa Rica, with its ALSP PredictaBill. Given the sector’s growth across Latin America, it is expected that this ranking will expand in the coming years.

Another addition is a new global category for corporate secretarial services, spotlighting providers offering outsourced corporate compliance — a key function for businesses seeking to remain aligned with regulatory and legal requirements. This includes board support (interim or ongoing), governance advisory, and entity management. Firms in Band 1 include Vario (Pinsent Masons) and Elemental CoSec.

It is worth noting that in the 2024 rankings, Chambers mentioned plans to introduce a category for “Global Market Leaders”, with a specific focus on the use of artificial intelligence. However, this has not yet materialised in the 2025 edition. The emergence of categories dedicated to AI will be an important development to watch, given its rapid expansion in the legal sector globally.

What areas and topics does this guide cover?

This year’s classification spans a wide range of services, from flexible staffing providers and contract lifecycle management, to legal transformation consultancies, litigation support specialists, legal process outsourcing (LPOs), and LawTech companies.

Chambers also continues to expand its coverage of local markets such as Asia-Pacific, reflecting the increasing sophistication and maturity of these ecosystems.

Spain remains at the forefront of the alternative legal services sector, maintaining its position as the only country with a dedicated ALSP ranking for over five consecutive years.

Among those ranked in Band 1 are Abroading, AMBAR, Afiens Legal Services by Auxadi, and Legal Army. In Band 2, notable providers include FYR Legal, Lawyers for Projects, KPMG Abogados, and PwC Tax & Legal, as well as several individually ranked professionals.

How does Chambers make its decisions?

As with all of its rankings, Chambers builds the results from interviews with candidate firms, their clients, and industry experts. The evaluation considers factors such as technical expertise, client service quality, and the value delivered through legal solutions, among others.

The Chambers NewLaw 2025 guide offers insights into the key innovation trends that are reshaping the legal sector. Being featured in the ranking is not only a form of recognition but also a competitive advantage in an evolving market.
